Abstract

Shape and size of the weld in fusion welding has a great influence on the welded quality and working ability. Factors that may change the welded shape and size are the welding conditions, welding technologies, shielding gas, etc. Therefore, use of gas and ratio of shielding gas has a significant influence on the weld size. In this study, SUS 304 (Cr-Ni) steel was automatically welded by MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding process with mixed gas (O2 in Ar and CO2 in Ar) using K-308LT flux cored welding wire under given current and welding voltage. Results show that the shape, size as well as the surface quality change in changing the shielding gas mixing ratio of O2 and CO2 in Ar. This result will be a useful basis to choose appropriate solution for welding Cr-Ni stainless alloy steel with flux cored wire.
