Abstract

The damped rotors, such as steam turbine and generator rotors, always appeared to have harmful torsional vibration, which is a dominant cause of torsional damage. Therefore, researching ways to reduce torsional vibrations for the rotors are an essential issue to increase the life and stability of the machine. This study uses the dynamic vibration absorber to suppress the torsional vibration of a damped rotor. It focuses on proposed an algorithm for finding the optimal parameter of a dynamic vibration absorber based on the Taguchi method. The numerical studies are included to prove and clarify the performance of the proposed algorithm.
