Abstract

This paper presents the results of silk degumming method by hot water and pressure. Colored-silk was used, wich is the result of new dyeing method feeding silkworm with mulberry leaves supplemented the dye named Rhodamine B. Xrite color i5 colorimeter, scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were respectively used to evaluate the color changing, the treatment efficiency and the structural characterization of the treated colored-silk. The effect of the treatment time was observed when degummed in 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes. The results also show that silk degummed by hot water and pressure without using chemicals is an economical and friendly treatment method, it is also in line with new production trends.
